Blood Moon

On the eve of her grandmother's wake, Suzuran Konno was appointed as the new Captain of the Fourth division. This was the night of the blood moon, a time of grief and despair over the losses of the Fourth and Eleventh Captains.

Suzuran is from a wealthy clan. She's been pampered, given everything she's ever wanted, and kept away from the harsh realities that lay beyond the borders of her home. She was raised to be a pleasant woman, mannerly, presentable, and honorable. The only reason she ever got involved with the Gotei and being a shinigami was because she looked up to her peers, most notable being her grandmother. The Konno family is renowned for its skilled Fourth division Shinigami. So, after granny-gran Konno was brutally bisected kicked the bucket Suzu had to step in and hold up the Konno name because granny-gran had chosen her long ago to do that thing so here Suzu is unprepared because granny-gran died a lil' soon okay. Suzu was gonna be ready. 

Suzuran is highly skilled with Kido and healing but she falls short in everything else. She's not strong physically or mentally when it comes to being on the battlefield. Suzu is well aware that she is not most fit for this position but she has a family name to uphold and a legacy to carry on, so she swallows her emotions and puts on her best show of determination. For the most part she does her job well, if it does not involve entering a battlefield. She's prone to breaking down at night when no one is around and binge eats her feelings away. There's always a smile on when morning shift begins though.
